Event 2: Reggio Emilia, Italy

Reggio Emilia reflections

Riflessioni a Reggio Emilia

“We can’t solve everything all at once… we can only sow small seeds and keep watering and weeding until the garden blooms.”

“To live is to take decisions and bear the consequences.”

“It’s not about being strong, being rich, being Muslim, being Christian, being black, being white. Love transcends all of these.”

“The past is done and there is nothing we can do about it. The future is in our hands. We must act now in the present to protect it.”

“We are humans, there is no real difference between us, we are all equal. We can live together and erase stereotypes.”

“It’s been an interesting and emotional experience being part of Every Button Counts. I have appreciated the time to share a small part of our story and identity.”

“I have been moved by the courage of people in Reggio Emilia to survive terrible events and look to the future.”

Before we left, Istoreco were generous enough to present us with an original artwork called Nuove Anatomies by Omar Galliani. Galliani lives and works in Montecchio Emilia. He teaches painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. In recent years, Omar Galliani has turned his attention to the East to find common ground between the classical traditions of Western Europe and Eastern cultures.
